Welcome!
I am a rural development sociologist, passionate about rural matters.
I specialise in social and agrarian change in Central Asia. As a critical scholar, I want my research to have tangible impact. I want to contribute to social and ecological justice, and fight inequality. It is one reason why I actively engage with non-academic audiences.
I lecture at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Leiden University. I am a Honorary Research Associate at the University of Oxford’s School of Geography and the Environment.
My research interests are broad, and sit at the intersection of political economy, political ecology, and political geography. As PI I am currently managing two research projects, both revolving around lived geopolitics in rural Central Asia. Details will follow shortly!
